THIS shocking image shows the aftermath of a fatal crash in which a 38-year-old man died.
The motorist was killed when his Audi A1 S Line crashed into a tree on the B2116 Keymer Road in Hassocks.
A photograph taken at the scene shows how his car was left completely unrecognisable following the incident.
The front of the car was crumpled in, with the engine ripped out and others pieces of debris strewn across the road.
Emergency services tried to save the driver, who has not been named, following the crash on Wednesday October 20.
“Despite the best efforts of paramedics who commenced CPR, he was tragically pronounced dead at the scene,” a police spokesman said.
West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service urged drivers to avoid the area.
Fire crews from Burgess Hill, as well as the Heavy Rescue Tender from Crawley, attended the scene.
Anyone who witnessed the crash or captured any relative dash cam footage, is urged to email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk, quoting Operation Goldfish.
