A FUNDRAISER is making his way through Sussex as part of a more than 2,000 mile route across the country… wearing only a Speedo.

Mick Cullen, dubbed Speedo Mick due to his outfit, is halfway through a six-month trek across the UK and Ireland.

He is raise funds for the SpeedoMick Foundation, as well as finding charities to donate up to £250,000 along the way.

Today, he has been making his way through Brighton and Hove, and has even received an invite to the Amex Stadium from Brighton and Hove Albion.

Mick set up the SpeedoMick Foundation in 2020, following a 1,000 mile walk across 30 towns and cities in 2019, which raised over £500,000.

His latest walk, known as the Giving Back Tour, will cover 2,400 miles and over 190 days of walking, taking in all five capital cities of the UK and Ireland.

Mick said: “The reason I’m doing the tour is to ‘give back’ to the people and the communities who have supported me in the past.

“The Covid-19 pandemic has placed a huge strain on the finances of so many charities and has shone a light on how difficult life can be for a lot of young people in the country - whether it be a lack of food, money or opportunities.

“I’ll do anything I can to help.”

He started his walk in Stornoway in the Western Isles in May, and has since travelled through Edinburgh and Glasgow, before heading across to Belfast and Dublin and crossing back to north Wales and down to Cardiff.

The last leg of the ‘tour’ will continue through all of England’s major cities, before finishing in Liverpool in December.

The foundation has made over £100,000 of donations to over 100 charities through the tour to date.

Mick himself has struggled in the past, overcoming addiction and living challenges, with homelessness and mental health issues being close to his heart.

He said: “I know how hard it is to come out on the other side.

“In my life, I’ve been in some dark, lonely, hopeless places. For me, one of the rewarding parts of my fundraising has been to help people facing what I have faced.”
