CRAWLEY Town have announced that The Boomtown Rats will sponsor the club for their Emirates FA Cup match this weekend.

The band will be the club's sleeve sponsor when the Reds take on Tranmere Rovers in the first round of the cup on Saturday.

This will mark the first time a band has ever sponsored a professional football club in the Emirates FA Cup.

The club is extremely proud of its relationship with Sir Bob Geldof and The Boomtown Rats, and they are looking forward to working with the band further in the near future.

Commercial Manager Keith Murray said: "It's great that we are continuing our relationship with the band and hope it progresses further going forward.

"Despite our run of recent losses, behind the scenes, we are really moving forward. We have had more than 100 people in hospitality for the last few games, and that just shows the progress we have made as a club.

"We are doing so much off the field, especially with the Gratitude Scheme, and I think people are recognising that.

"Despite the recent defeats, the mood and the feedback we are getting is positive."

Crawley will be hoping that the new sponsor will give them the boost needed to put a stop to their losing run.

The Reds have lost their last seven games, with their last positive result coming in a 2-1 victory over Bradford City.
