MANY Bonfire Night displays are returning tonight for the first time since the pandemic struck.
A popular family occasion, November 5 or Guy Fawkes Night, always draws crowds across Sussex.
Lewes Bonfire, one of the largest in the country and famous for its displays, was also cancelled last year due to Covid, but will make its much anticipated return tonight.
Precautionary measures for the event include no trains running after 5pm from Lewes, Glynde or Southease, while several roads around Lewes will be closed overnight and people are encouraged to not take cars into the town.
Organisers and emergency services are worried about large, packed crowds and the risk of Covid, so are encouraging people to go to events near their homes where possible.
Other events taking place across the county include Lindfield, Worthing, Eastbourne and Firle.
The forecast for the weekend has the power to make or break this weekend’s activities.
The Met Office has said it expects today to remain largely dry and bright, with some sunny spells, after a cold and frosty start in places. So bring a woolly hat!
