THESE pictures show some of the best guys, processions and costumes from Bonfire Night 2021.

The much-anticipated Lewes Bonfire took place on Friday and our Camera Club members captured some brilliant pictures of the event.

This year's event saw various effigies reflecting the current Covid crisis.

These included Joe Biden, Dominic Cummings, Matt Hancock and a giant plague doctor.

A huge Guy Fawkes was also spotted wearing a mask with two injections in his shoulders.

Hundreds lined the streets of the Sussex town to watch the procession and fireworks display throughout the evening.

Despite road closures, thousands managed to make their way to Lewes town centre to watch the parade.

The various societies took their turn marching the bridge over the River Ouse.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue called the event a "largely trouble-free" occasion but that it had been busier than 2019's celebrations - estimating that 25,000 to 30,000 people attended.

Members of the parades seemed to enjoy the evening, Teresa from South Street says Bonfire Night this year has been a “good one”.

Mother and daughter Roxy and Samaa were guided around by a friend in one of the bonfire societies.

“It’s very exciting, we’ve been every year and it’s a different buzz this year," they said.

The small historic town holds Britain’s largest celebrations to celebrate November 5, a tradition believed to be ongoing since the 1600s.

Last year, the Lewes bonfire celebrations included figureheads of Donald Trump, Kim Jong-un and Theresa May.
