ALBION boss Graham Potter is among the bookies favourites for the Aston Villa managerial job.

Villa sacked Dean Smith on Sunday after three years in charge.

Smith left the club following their 1-0 defeat to Southampton on Friday - the side’s fifth successive defeat in the Premier League.

Villa currently sit in 17th in the Premier League table - two points above the relegation zone.

According to Betvictor, Albion head coach Graham Potter is among the candidates to replace Smith at Villa Park.

Potter, who was born in Solihull, is fourth on the list of potential replacements with odds of 12/1.

Rangers manager and former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard currently sits top of the list with odds of 10/11, followed by Belgium manager Roberto Martinez with odds of 4/1.

In third place is former Roma manager Paulo Fonseca, who has odds of 10/1.

Also on the shortlist is Frank Lampard (12/1), John Terry (12/1), Nuno Espirito Santo (20/1) and Ralph Hasenhüttl (20/1).

Potter was appointed as Seagulls boss in 2019 to replace Chris Hughton.

Albion currently sit in seventh place in the Premier League table – seven points ahead of Villa.

Villa have scored more goals than Albion this season, having found the net 14 times compared to 12.

However, Potter’s side have conceded just 12 times compared to Villa’s 20.
