A MAN has appeared in court charged with carrying 43 packages of cannabis into the country.
Van Houng Jimmy Nguyen was arrested on November 3 at Gatwick Airport accused of carrying 43 packages of the class B drug, with a combined weight of 24kg.
Nguyen, 36, of no fixed address, has been charged with importing a controlled drug of class B with intent to evade a prohibition/ restriction.
He appeared at Crawley Magistrates' Court on November 4 where he indicated a plea of guilty.
Court documents say he has been committed to Lewes Crown Court for sentencing due to the seriousness of the offence and possible disposal, lack of community ties in UK.
