AN E-SCOOTER rider has been arrested after cocaine, cannabis and £1,000 in cash were seized by police.

Officers from the specialist enforcement unit spotted a man riding an e-scooter and acting suspiciously while on patrol in Littlehampton.

Police witnessed a suspected drug deal in Old Market Street and believed the e-scooter rider was responsible for selling the drugs.

The 25-year-old from Littlehampton was detained and found to be in possession of cannabis.

His home was then searched, and officers found more cannabis as well as quantities of cocaine.

They also found approximately £1,000 in cash, two sets of electric scales, multiple small plastic grip seal dealing bags, and a large Zombie-style knife.

The suspect was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a class B drug, possessing a class A drug with intent to supply, and possession of an offensive weapon in a private setting.

He was also arrested on suspicion of driving an e-scooter while disqualified.

He has been released under investigation, pending further enquiries.

Earlier this month, Sussex Police issued renewed advice to e-scooter riders about how they face arrest and prosecution if they use the powered vehicles in public.

This follows increasing concern about road safety, with reports of e-scooters riding on pavements, and frequent crime reports linked to e-scooters.
