SO CRAWLEY has put in for city status and I have asked the government to put my name down as a supporter.

Crawley really started as a new town back in 1947 it’s population was to be fifty thousand.

Well now it’s more than twice that.

Like most of the towns and cities in the country it’s taken some big hits.

Gatwick Airport has suffered badly as have the retail sector but fortunately much is coming back.

In the mid seventies the government decided to move out the boundary with Surrey so the Gatwick was to come under West Sussex and the airport was expanding fast.

An airport must be near a town so the town can supply goods and services to the airport. Well Crawley and it’s people do a great job.

Crawley has some nice parks and gardens and is a great asset for Sussex as a whole.

Hopefully the people of Sussex will offer their support to our future city.
