ARMED police were called to a Sussex village after reports of a man in possession of a firearm.
Officers responded to the scene on the B2102 near Handcross, near Crawley, this morning at 10.20am.
Police carried out an extensive area search, assisted by the National Police Air Service helicopter and the Dog Unit.
However, officers found no trace of the suspect.
A police spokesman said that it is believed to be an isolated incident with no threat to the wider community.
Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
