THE Brighton area has always had a good bus service.
Brighton, Hove and District (BHD) ran most of the busy routes like the 1s, 2s and 5s.
Brighton Corporation also ran some busy routes too. The busiest was the 49s.
I was a conductor on that route but one of the most popular routes and still missed today was the no 17 seafront route.
It was run by BHD using their open top cream buses and I have to say they always looked clean and smart.

The no 17s ran from Rottingdean to Hove lagoon and I must say if that route ran these days it would be a big money spinner as Brighton and Hove seafront is packed full of entertainments plus now there is the marina so what about it Mr Harris?
The only reason it stopped was because of staff shortages but if it ran as an entertainment the passenger could buy a ticket which could get the visitors in many of our seafront entertainments.
