FIREFIGHTERS are tackling a blaze involving a bin lorry on a residential street.
Crews from West Sussex Fire and Rescue service have urged motorists to avoid the scene in Christchurch Road this morning.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are using two high-pressure hose reels and a jet to extinguish the fire.
Pictures taken from the scene show a mound of rubbish alight in the middle of the street, while services work to extinguish the blaze.
Writing on Twitter, a West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "Please avoid Christchurch Road in Worthing this morning. Our crews from Worthing are currently dealing with a fire involving a household waste vehicle.
"Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are using two high pressure hose reels and a jet to extinguish the fire."
