A SUSPECTED drug-driver has been arrested after a crash with a car on the M23.

Police and emergency services were called following a collision between a light goods vehicle and a car on the M23 southbound.

At 9.50am this morning, it was reported that an Audi and a van had crashed on the southbound carriageway between junction 10, near Tinsley Green, and Junction 11 near Crawley.

National Highways has since confirmed that the road has reopened.

In a tweet, it said: “The scene is now clear and the road had reopened following the earlier collision.

“Thank you for your patience. Please have a safe onwards journey.”

Sussex Roads Police said the driver of the van has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving.

In a tweet, a spokesman said: “Fortunately – and surprisingly – nobody was injured as a result of this one.”

Pictures taken by National Highways show a large amount of debris, including metal poles and wood, scattered across the road.

Recovery were on the scene and a clean-up has been undertaken.
