A MAN has been given a suspended prison sentence after harassing a woman over four months.
Christopher Paul Grinstead, 46, of Church Street in Uckfield, sent abusive messages and other unwanted contact to the woman from August to December of last year.
Brighton Magistrates' Court heard that the harassment took place while Grinstead was under the influence of alcohol.
They were also told he continued harassing the woman after his bail conditions expired.
Grinstead, who pleaded guilty, was given an 18-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months.
He was issued with a restraining order prohibiting him from contacting the woman directly or indirectly for any reason. The order lasts until November 2024.
Grinstead must also pay £413 by December 22, including £200 in compensation, £85 in costs and a victim surcharge of £128. An application has been made to recover the money from deductions to benefits.
