THE MET Office has issued a yellow weather warning for the whole of England on Tuesday with strong winds set to batter the country.

It says there is potential for travel disruption in places, with some coastal areas likely to be affected by spray and large waves.

Gusts of 45-50mph are “widely” expected, while 60-70mph gusts could happen in “exposed coastal locations”.

The wind will pick up from about 9am on Tuesday and is expected to last all day going into Wednesday.

Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely, while short-term loss of power and other services is “possible”.

The warning says a deep area of low pressure moving in across the UK from the Atlantic is “likely to bring high winds to many parts” of the country.

Strong winds will arrive into the west in the morning and head east through the afternoon into the evening.
