PUPILS at a Sussex private school have raised hundreds of pounds for a hospice during their annual Christmas fundraiser.

Burgess Hill Girls students managed to raise £750 in sponsorship for a Sussex hospice following their Elf Run this year.

The girls from reception up to Year 6, dressed as festive elves and took part in a series of challenges along an obstacle course route.

These included ducking and diving to avoid being pelted with beanbags, they were all rewarded with a visit from Santa.

All of the money raised will go to St Peter and St James Hospice in Wivelsfield Green, where the staff’s hard work provides support and healthcare to families and patients during difficult times,

The hospice costs £8000 a day to run, with £19 paying for one hour of care and £23 for a nurse to visit someone in their own home.
