TWO entrepreneurs who gave away hundreds of pizzas to the homeless have said it was a “touching experience” and they hope to make it a monthly event.

Ethan Martin, 23, and Harry Soar, 24, founders of table ordering app Round, linked up with Sussex Homeless Support and used the power of their customers, as well as their own money, to give away 102 pizzas away at the Clock Tower in Brighton on Monday.

Round teamed up with The Fat Pizza, which provided the ingredients and cooked the pizzas at its shop in Grand Parade, Brighton.

Customers could order a meal for one, which included a pizza and a drink, through their app and a Facebook group.

From here the pizzas were cooked and delivered to the Sussex Homeless Support team, who handed them out.

Harry and Ethan founded their app while studying at Sussex University in 2019.

The app has grown across the country in student union bars as well being picked up by pub chain Greene King, and is now worth £33 million.

Harry said the pizza giveaway was a good night and they cannot wait to do more events like it in the future.

He said: “For most people, we take fast food and takeaways for granted. But for some people, it’s something they never have so it was nice to provide that around Christmas time. We just want to be able to do this again and again and keep it going.

“We’re in a day and age where no one should be homeless and secondly should be in need of food.

"To be able to provide the means to help somewhat, it’s great. With this, you’re on your phone ordering, next minute someone in need is getting a hot meal.”

They opened up pre-orders last week so people could buy a pizza and drink through their app or a Facebook group.

Harry said he was running a lot of the pizzas from the shop to the Clock Tower and it was great to see lots of happy people enjoying their food.

He said: “Personally it was great to see people’s faces, they lit up. It went ahead with no hiccups or anything, so was very successful.

“We have already spoken about doing this in other cities. The great thing with Round is you can be anywhere in the world and support this.

“We want it to be a monthly basis in the near future and we want to do it in multiple cities.

“It’s only going to get bigger from here, it’s something Ethan and I have wanted to do for a while.”
