A RESTAURANT has added a new vegan burger to their menu in celebration of Veganuary.

The new Cheezy Garlic Fest will be available at Halo Burger in North Road, Brighton, from January 1.

The burger combines a Beyond Meat patty, American style cheese, This Isn’t Bacon rashers, crispy onion, parmesan style cheese, garlic purée and aioli.

A Halo Burger spokesman said the new burger is so garlicky, it even comes with a side of chewing gum.

The burger is available for £10.95 for the month of January.

Ross Forder, founder and Director of Halo Burger, said: “The garlicky and cheesy goodness of this burger pairs brilliantly with the smokiness of the plant-based meat.

“We’ve wanted to create something like this for a while and Veganuary felt like the perfect time.”

At least five per cent of the UK took part in Veganuary in 2020 - an annual challenge that encourages people to follow a vegan diet for the month of January.

This co-founder Andy Shovel said: “Halo Burger’s new Cheezy Garlic Fest is frankly immense. But most highs in life come at some cost; and in this case - it’s the risk of needlessly unsuccessful dates.

“We can’t bear the thought of This being associated with those, so we’ve worked with Halo to ensure that diners receive some free chewing gum.”

Founded in 2018, Halo Burger is the UK’s first 100 per cent plant-based bleeding burger restaurant.

The Brighton site will also be offering Garlic Parm Fries. The thin cut pink salt fries with parmesan style cheese, garlic and fresh parsley will also be available for the month of January.

Since Veganuary began in 2014, participation has more than doubled each year. More than 400,000 people signed up to the 2020 campaign.
