DANIEL Craig, Joanna Lumley and Kate Garraway are among the biggest names to be recognised in the New Year’s Honours list.

The list recognises the achievements and service of people across the UK, from all walks of life.

A host of celebrities have been made an OBE, MBE and CBE this year.

Tennis star Emma Raducanu has been made an MBE, while Tokyo Paralympic hero Bethany Firth has been made an OBE.

Fellow British Olympic and Paralympic stars Jason and Laura Kenny have received a knighthood, while Adam Peaty was awarded an OBE.

England’s chief medical officer Professor Chris Whitty has been knighted, while the same accolade has been given to Scotland’s chief medical officer Dr Gregor Smith, England’s deputy CMO Jonathan Van-Tam and Wales’ CMO Frank Atherton.

Comedian Adam Hills said he did not tell his family he had been named in the New Year Honours list because he was “still not convinced someone isn’t playing a prank on me” after being made an MBE for services to Paralympic sport and disability awareness.

Joanna Lumley has been made a dame, while James Bond star Daniel Craig has been made a Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George, the same honour given to 007.

Kate Garraway has been made an MBE in after documenting her husband Derek Draper’s battle with coronavirus.
