Emergency services were called after a man fell from a flat on seafront road.
Crews from East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service as well as officers from Sussex Police and the ambulance service are responding to the incident in Holland Road, Hove, near the Audrey's Chocolates shop.
Sussex Police have closed the road.
Photos from the scene show dozens of firefighters working at the scene.
A spokesman for Sussex Police said: "At 1.05pm on Sunday, January 2 emergency services were called to Holland Road, Hove, after a report that a man had fallen from a flat and sustained injuries."
The fire service and South East Coast Ambulance Service have also been contacted for comment.
