POLICE say there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of a man who fell from a flat yesterday.

The 26-year-old, who lived in the flat, was treated by paramedics but died at the scene.

There was a major emergency response to the incident in Holland Road, Hove, which happened at about 1.05pm, with police, fire and ambulance services all at the scene.

A forensic tent was put up where the man had fallen while crime scene investigators in white coats worked nearby.

The road was blocked and residents in the road had to be led into their homes by police.

One man who lives in Holland Road had to be escorted by officers when he returned to his house just after 1pm.

He said: "I left my house at about half 12 and the tent was up when I returned an hour later.

"We had to be escorted back into our house by police.

"I saw an investigator in a white coat walking up into the tarpaulin tent which had been put up covering the pavement and the front door to the flats."

A Sussex Police spokesman said: “At 1.05pm on Sunday, emergency services were called to Holland Road, Hove, after a report that a man had fallen from the front window of a flat and sustained serious injuries. He was treated by paramedics but was sadly confirmed deceased at the scene a short while later.

“The circumstances have been investigated, there are no suspicious circumstances and the Coroner's Officer has been informed.

“The body is believed to be that of a 26-year-old man who had been living in the block of flats.

“We appreciate and are grateful for the patience and understanding of local residents while emergency services responded to this distressing incident.”
