A MAN was seriously injured in an assault by a group of people in the early hours of New Year's Day.
Officers were called to Southgate in Chichester at around 2.30am to reports of a 22-year-old man being assaulted by a group of people at the junction with Avenue de Chartres.
The group then headed off towards the railway station.
Police are investigating the incident and are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information that could help in their inquiries to contact police online or by calling 101, quoting serial 812 of 01/01.
