A RESTAURANT is set to give away 100 burgers in celebration of Veganuary.

Oowee Vegan in Brighton have partnered with Beyond Meat to create a new vegan burger.

The Flamin’ Hot Smash consists of a double Beyond Meat patty, two slices of American cheese, fried jalapeños and homemade hot mayo.

The restaurant is offering customers the chance to try the new burger for free this weekend.

A total of 100 customers will be able to claim a free Flamin’ Hot Smash by visiting Oowee at The Inn on The Square in Cranbourne Street at 2pm on Sunday, January 16.

The burgers will be given out on a first come first served basis.

Co-founder of Oowee Vegan Charlie Watson said: “Veganuary is the time of year when many non-vegans decide to give the diet a go for the month, so we've really focused on creating a product that they will enjoy just as much, if not more than the very best animal meat alternatives.

“We achieve this by obsessing over every element of the burger from the daily baked milk rolls made by our in-house baker, to the handmade, unique sauces that our chefs create, and then we work with the industry leaders where exceptional products exist, such as Beyond Meat, which put together, create something special. It's all in the detail.”

Charlie said the aim is to show meat eaters that eating a plant-based burger can be as exciting and delicious as the traditional meat burger, with the hope that they consider a plant based option more regularly.

"We're really proud of this one, and can't wait to see the reaction of meat eaters when they try the burger, as people are always so surprised at how realistic it tastes. It's great to see people so excited about this innovative product,” he added.
