"The UK’s best stand-up comedians have all said they’ll come and perform here, and the support from the industry has been breath-taking.

“I have an amazing team of people who are passionate about comedy above all else.”

Romesh, from Crawley, will perform at The Forge’s opening night on Saturday, 29 January.

He said: “This new club is not only great for new audiences, but for the comedy scene in Brighton as a whole.”

Ironworks Studios opened in 2021 following its conversion from an industrial unit to a creative space by Paul Kemp, managing director of Brighton and Hove Pride.

Meanwhile, Komedia Brighton have teamed up with promoters Little Wander to launch their reformatted comedy event following the split.

Komedia Brighton has won Chortle's Best Venue in the South a record 17 times.
