WALK-in Covid-19 vaccinations at Churchill Square have resumed after being suspended for more than a month.

Services were suspended in December to allow the centre to increase capacity for booked appointments.

But now, Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust said it is able to offer the flexible option for people who are yet to have their jab.

A spokesman for the Sussex Covid-19 Vaccination Programme said: “We’re really pleased with the turn out so far for booster vaccinations and our teams have worked incredibly hard over the past few weeks to really ramp up the number of available sessions for people to get their jab.

“The task now is to ensure anyone who has not yet done so, is able to get a vaccination easily - whether it is a first, second or booster jab. We have lots of capacity for everyone to come forward.

“If you’d rather have a booked appointment, there are lots of available appointments in the day time, evenings and weekends at multiple sites across Sussex.

“Go to the National Booking Service website or call 119 to arrange your vaccination appointment.”

Anyone aged 16 and over can now attend the centre for a first, second or booster vaccination without the need for a booked appointment.

Booked appointments are also available for 12 to 15 year olds.

Figures from the UK coronavirus dashboard show 2,854 people aged 16 and 17 in Brighton and Hove had received two jabs by January 16 – at least 44 per cent of the age group.

A further 1,619 12 to 15-year-olds had received two doses of a Covid vaccine by that date, equating to 13 per cent of the age group.

It means 4,473 under-18s in Brighton and Hove are double-jabbed – at least 24 per cent of the age group, based on the number of people on the National Immunisation Management Service database.

They are among 11,357 (60 per cent ) who had received a first dose by January 16.

The centre is open between 08:30 – 19:30 every day.

Extra walk-in sessions are also taking place across Brighton and Hove over the coming week to encourage residents to get their vaccinations.
