THE COASTGUARD was called following reports two dogs had fallen from a cliff.

Teams from Birling Gap, Eastbourne, Newhaven Coastguard were called after dog went over the cliff edge.

The dog, a border collie, was recused from the base of the cliff in Seaford by the Newhaven lifeboat crew and brought ashore to its owner.

Crews also responded to a separate incident in Eastbourne where a dog and its owner needed assistance on the beach.

A spokesman for Birling Gap Coastguard said: “We are glad to report both dogs were found with no major injuries and left safe and well with their owners.

“Please remember to always keep dogs on leads near the cliffs.”
