MULTIPLE fire crews from across Sussex were called to tackle a large house fire.

The blaze broke out at around 10pm yesterday evening at a home in Castle Lane, Bramber, Steyning.

Teams from Steyning, Worthing, Haywards Heath, Lancing, East Preston and East Sussex attended the scene.

A spokesman for West Sussex Fire and Rescue said: "We are currently in attendance at a house fire in Castle Lane, Bramber. Crews from Steyning, Worthing Fire and WSFRS HHeath are at the scene and being supported by colleagues from East Sussex FRS. Please keep doors and windows shut if you’re nearby."

During the incident, fire services warned residents to "keep all windows and doors closed" to avoid any dangerous inhalation of smoke in the nearby area.

In a later update at 2.27am he said: "This incident has now been scaled back.

"Crews from East Preston and Lancing remain in attendance, damping down and checking for hotspots using a thermal imaging camera.

"Thank you to local residents for your patience whilst we continue to deal with the fire."

Crews remained in attendance at the scene until 8am this morning.

At around 8.45am West Sussex Fire and Rescue announced that all teams had left and that they will be returning later to inspect the property.
