The Seagulls travelled to the East Midlands for a chilly afternoon at the King Power Stadium.

Bjorn Hamberg took charge after Graham Potter and Billy Reid tested positive for Covid.

Albion picked up another point, another equaliser and another 1-1 draw for the collection.

Danny Welbeck got off the bench to head the leveller from a Neal Maupay cross.

Having been stung into action by a Patson Daka goal straight after half-time, they powered forward for much of the second period.

Kasper Schmeichel made a pair of super saves either side of the Welbeck leveller and Dan Burn had a header cleared off the line.

But the over-bearing feel will have been one of huge pride in the resilience and quality of that last 40 minutes or so.

Bjorn Hamberg has praised the Albion resilience which grabbed another come-from-behind point.

Hamberg took charge in the absence of Graham Potter and Billy Reid, who both tested positive for Covid.

He said: “Overall we will take a point. The second half was more of a reflection of what we are trying to do here.

“Even if we go a goal behind, I think as a group we keep working hard.

“We never give up. It is really important not to feel sorry for yourself.

“In the first half we couldn’t really get hold of the ball, couldn’t really express ourselves in possession and you have to survive those moments.”

Danny Welbeck has revealed his sense of deja vu after scoring, the substitute headed home a perfect Maupay cross to save a point.

Welbeck told BBC Radio Sussex: “It was a great ball from Neal.

“Once I saw him lining up, it reminded me of last season. He did a cross for me like that against United at Old Trafford.

“I kind of replayed it in my head and I knew where the ball was going. Once it was in the air I knew it was going to be mine.”

Welbeck would have loved to have come home with a win.

He said: “We are a little bit disappointed not to get the three points because of the manner of the second half.

“That shows great character from the squad. We want to be doing better. We have got to improve. We’ve got this little winter break now.

“We will take our rest and we’ll come back looking to do better than before.”
