THERE will be major disruption on a major rail route due to an £160 million upgrade project.

Southern Rail has confirmed that the planned signally modernisation this weekend means no train will run to, or from London Victoria.

Most trains will be diverted to London Bridge, and limited rail replacement bus services will run between East Croydon or Balham and Clapham Junction.

Network Rail said the new, modern equipment will mean fewer faults and fewer delays for passengers travelling on these lines.

More than 90 new signals will also be erected, new points put in place, new train detection equipment and upgraded power supplies installed.

Planned closures are also due to take place in the Spring and over the Easter period.

Southern has said further dates may be added.

To help you customers get to their destinations, tickets will be accepted on the following routes:

  • Southwestern Railway between Clapham Junction / Vauxhall and London Waterloo
  • London Buses between:
  • London Victoria and Clapham Junction
  • Balham and Streatham Hill
