THE first residents at a new housing development on a former school site have now moved into their homes.

Ten homes have been occupied by their new owners at Bellway’s Seaford Grange development, which is taking shape on the site of the former Newlands School off Eastbourne Road.

Construction work is progressing with 18 of the 137 homes for private sale now built and nine of the 46 properties completed, the work started in 2020 and is due to be completed in 2023.

Mark Harrop, Sales Director at Bellway Kent, said: “Welcoming the first residents to the development marks the starting point of a new community forming in Seaford.

"There has been a high level of interest in Seaford Grange right from the outset.

“The buyers here are a mix of local people and purchasers from further afield, with the majority being from the area.

"Most of the buyers are older couples downsizing and growing families.

“The location here is perfect for both of these types of purchaser. For families, there is the attraction of shops you can walk to, good schools locally and the proximity of Seaford beach.

“The benefits for downsizers, meanwhile, include the two golf courses in the area and the fact that you are only a short drive away from Brighton, the village of East Dean and the town centre at Eastbourne."

A large variety of properties are available for buyers, including one and two-bedroom apartments, and two, three and four-bedroom houses.

There are three showhomes available to view and to give visitors the chance to visualise what it might be like to live in the home.

Mr Harrop added: “This really is a beautiful development and we often get comments from visitors about how lovely the landscaping and the site entrance is.

"There are views of the gorgeous South Downs from the development and once people see that they are sold on living at Seaford Grange.”

There are currently a selection of three and four-bedroom houses available to reserve at Seaford Grange, with prices starting from £399,995.
