THE council has urged residents to get vaccinated as soon as possible, with walk-in sessions available across the city.

Councillor Sue Shanks, who chairs the health and wellbeing board, said getting vaccinated is "the best way of keeping ourselves and our family and friends safe from getting severely ill with Covid".

She said: "I know there's many different reasons why people haven't had the vaccine yet but we're trying to make it as easy as possible for you to attend.

"If you were put off by hearing about queues and busy clinics before Christmas, please know that there's now plenty of walk-ins or slots to book, so you shouldn't have to wait very long."

Along with more availability at more times and locations across the city, Cllr Shanks said there is also free parking in some locations and help to get to vaccination centres for those who need it.

Latest figures show that just 71 per cent of those aged 12 and over in Brighton and Hove had received both jabs by January 25, compared with 84 per cent of people across England.

People can book vaccinations online or by calling 119 for an appointment at Churchill Square, Brighton Racecourse or some of the pharmacies in the city.
