BRIGHTON fans have hailed Dan Burn an "Albion legend" following the news he is set to join Newcastle United.

The Magpies had two previous bids rejected for the defender.

However, the club have agreed on a £13 million fee for the 29-year-old Englishman.

Albion fans were quick to take to social media to share their differing views on the transfer news.

“£13 mil? No brainer. Shame to see BDB go but Uncle Tony’s played a blinder there,” one fan tweeted.

Another said: “Two years ago, I never thought I’d be gutted to see Dan Burn leaving our club, but I really am, he’s been so good for us, but £13m is too much to turn down for a rotation option. Thank you so much for everything Dan, now go and smash it at your boyhood club.”

Another added: “Dan Burn = Albion legend.”

Burn was born in Blythe, Northumberland, and was a Newcastle fan when growing up.

He joined Albion in 2018 for a fee of £4 million and has made 72 league appearances for the club, scoring two goals.

His starring moment was scoring a crucial goal in Albion’s 3-2 win over Manchester City at the Amex Stadium last season.

While many wished him well on his exit from the Amex, other football fans were split on the move.

“Burn going to Newcastle, 13 million good return - has played well lately but does have a mistake in him. If he stays all well and good, if he goes, good luck,” one fan said.

A Newcastle fan said: “Neymar? Dembele ? Haaland? Kane? Rolling on the floor laughing - we need a proven goal scorer and a statement centre back. In our centre back crisis talk pre window I don't think Dan Burn will cut the mustard.”

A neutral added: “Matt Targett and Dan Burn aren’t great signings for Newcastle tbh, might not be enough to keep them up regardless.”
