TRAINS are being disrupted this evening due to trespassers on the track, passengers are being urged to check the timetable before they travel.

Southern have reported delays of up to 20 minutes between Haywards Heath and Gatwick due to reports of trespassers on the track at Three Bridges and further up the line.

The rail operator has also reported delays to and from Horsham.

The first report was made at around 4.30pm this afternoon and delays have continued since.

A spokesman for Southern said: "We've just received reports of a trespassing incident at Three Bridges.

"As a safety precaution, the power than electrifies the lines through Platforms 1, 2 and 3 have been switched off."

In a series of updates the operator stated that another person was also on the tracks further up the line, causing trains to be stopped mid journey.

The spokesman added later: "Both trespassers have now been met and in the process of being escorted off the railway.

"All trains between Gatwick and the South Coast are being delayed, so it will take some time for our Control teams to resume the advertised timetable."

Southern have urged passengers to allow up to 20 minutes for their journeys whilst the normal timetable resumes.
