FIRE crews were called to reports of people on the roof of a shop last night.

Crews were called to the Body Shop in North Street, Brighton, to reports of people needing to be rescued from the roof.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (ESFRS) searched the roof just after 10pm, but nobody was found.

Emergency services left the scene at 11.11pm after ensuring that the scene was safe.

Pictures from the scene show two fire engines that were involved in the search.

An ESFRS spokeswoman said: “At 10:07pm, we were called to attend a property on North Street, Brighton to carry out the rescue of people from the roof of the building.

“Crews from Brighton attended. Crews searched the scene but no persons were found.

"After thoroughly searching the area and ensuring the scene was safe, crews left the scene at 11:11pm.”
