THE promised improvements to signage will come too late for the many thousands of people caught in the bus gate "trap" near St Peter's Church.

Many will feel cheated because the signage for the new bus gate has been unclear and alternative routes haven't been set out.

There has also been a lack of publicity about these changes to the layout of the area.

Traffic regulations need to be seen to be fair otherwise people will understandably be discontented and will resent the changes.

I hope that Brighton and Hove City Council will think more carefully about changes to the traffic regulations in the future and ensure that they are properly publicised, sufficiently signposted and give people alternative routes for travel.

As The Argus article shows, many of the people caught up in this bus gate "trap" are "key workers" and people providing important services to the community ("Charity Workers caught out by controversial bus lanes" Argus, January 31).

It seems counter-productive to have new traffic schemes that actually make it more difficult to provide essential services to the community.
