A 20-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested after attempting to flee police.
Officers traced a car to the Worthing area after it was reported stolen in Brighton at 12.45pm today.
They followed the vehicle before the driver abandoned it in Shelby Road, Durrington, he then attempted to flee.
The man was arrested on suspicion of car theft and is currently in custody.
Pictures taken at the scene show the front of the car to be crumpled following a collision, police have reported that other vehicles also sustained minor damage.
A spokesman for Sussex Police said: "At 12.50pm on Thursday 3 February a car was reported stolen from outside a house in Withdean Rd, Brighton.
"Officers responded and traced the car to the Worthing area where it was pursued and was abandoned in Shelby Road, Durrington.
"The driver ran off but was safely arrested at 1.45pm after a short chase, on suspicion of theft of the car.
"The man, aged 20, is currently in custody for interview and further enquiries into what happened.
"Several other vehicles sustained minor damage from the stolen car in Worthing before it was abandoned."
