I READ of the proposed "new traffic parking laws" and I just have to laugh.

Apparently our esteemed council will be allowed to issue fines to motorists who park on pavements. Well, I wonder just what is going to happen to buses, refuse collection vehicles and all emergency vehicles trying to access narrow roads with cars parked either side and unable now to partly park on footpaths, allowing larger vehicles to pass through?

The great majority of car owners park considerately, allowing room for pedestrians, pushchairs etc to access pavements.

And, I ask, just what are the council going to do about rubbish bins left on footpaths every single day, in spite of their own "rules" that state that these bins are

taken in after collections?

These bins, often overflowing with household rubbish block pavements, and go together with hugely overgrown bushes that diminish access even more for pedestrians.

No matter how many times this council are approached with regards to these issues, they simply choose to ignore any requests for action... but because they will be able to fill their coffers with yet more fines, I would bet that this future "parking infringement" will be top of their list.

Time for a change at the top, and people put in place who actually consider the needs of the residents of this so-called city.
