I WAS excited to read that our local independent councillor, Bridget Fishleigh, is starting a new group "Brighton and Hove Independents".
She has been a breath of fresh air, understanding local issues and acting both reactively and pro-actively for the good of local residents and the city as
a whole.
It appears that her freedom from party political affiliation, dogma and philosophy has led to a lot more positive achievement and common sense than we have come to accept as the norm from our local elected representatives.
If this approach can be replicated by other independent candidates working toward a cohesive strategy for the good of all residents, present and future, I have renewed hope for the future of our city.
Not many of us would want the job of city councillor, it's a difficult and mostly thankless task. I tip my hat to the lot of them.
