A MAN has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after falling from a roof.

The South East Coast Ambulance service (Secamb) were called to North Street, Portslade at around 8pm last night after a man fell from a roof.

Ambulance crews were joined by East Sussex Fire and Rescue to help "extricate" the man.

Paramedics reportedly treated him being taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital with serious injuries.

Pictures taken at the scene show the emergency services as well as police.

A spokesman for Secamb said: "We were called just after 8pm last night to North Street, Portslade, to reports of a person having fallen from a height.

"We sent ambulance crews to the scene, including the doctor and paramedic from the air ambulance service - not with a helicopter but in a road vehicle.

"A male patient had suffered serious injuries and was treated before being taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital."

A East Sussex Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said: "At 20:10, we were called to attend North Street, Portslade to assist Secamb following reports that someone had fallen from a rooftop and required extricating.

"Firefighters from Hove and Preston Circus attended. One person was handed over in to the care of Secamb."
