A CYCLIST has died in a crash on a country road.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the fatal crash on Old Crawley Road in Horsham on Wednesday, February 9.

A 29-year-old man from Crawley was cycling when he collided with a black Nissan Qashqai.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident happened near the New House Business Centre shortly before 5.45pm.

Sussex Police are appealing for witnesses or any dashcam footage following the fatal collision.

Officers are particularly interested in hearing from anybody who saw either the cyclist or the vehicle travelling in the area shortly before the collision.

The incident was one of a number of fatal crashes in Sussex in recent weeks.  

Another cyclist was killed after being hit by a BMW in Hailsham on Sunday, January 30.

Daniel Corrick, from Haywards Heath, was taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital, but was pronounced dead on February 2.

A man in his 70s died in a crash involving a lorry at the junction of Guildford Road and Merryfield Drive, Horsham, on January 31.  

Police are still appealing for witnesses and information regarding the incident.  

And a pedestrian also died in a crash on Turners Hill Road in Crawley on Wednesday, January 26. 

The 55-year-old man was killed when a blue Kia crashed while joining the carriageway.
