A GRANDFATHER who died when he was hit by a lorry has been remembered for his “generosity and kind-hearted nature”.

Chris Penycate, from Horsham, died after being hit by lorry in at the junction of Guildford Road and Merryfield Road, Horsham, on Monday, January 31.

The 75-year-old had been out walking before the crash.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

His family said they have been left “devastated” by the death of the father and grandfather.

In a statement, they said: "Chris was a father of two daughters and grandpa to four young granddaughters whom he adored.

"A retired finance director, founder and chairman of a sports and social club and life-long supporter of Wolverhampton Wonders and Surrey Cricket Club, he was much-loved and noted for his generosity and kind-hearted nature.

"He always saw the best in everyone he met, and he will be sadly missed.

"As a family, we request privacy at this time whilst we come to terms with our traumatic loss."
