FOOTAGE has emerged of an early morning fire at a city centre restaurant.

Fire crews were called to the blaze at Dos Sombreros in Ship Street, Brighton, at 6.02am on Monday, February 14.

A total of eight fire engines attended the scene, with crews from Roedean, Preston Circus, Hove, Barcombe, Newhaven and Worthing using foam and breathing apparatus to extinguish the blaze.

A video taken at the scene shows smoke billowing out of the Mexican restaurant, while firefighters make their way into the building.

As of 9.05am, firefighters had left the scene with a fire investigation due to take place in due course.

“Thank you to everyone affected for their patience whilst we dealt with this incident,” an East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said.

During the incident, members of the public were urged to avoid the area.

All people who were in the building were accounted for, while police, ambulance and utility companies were also notified.
