AN AMERICAN-STYLE caravan is bringing a flavour of the States to a sleepy farm, as it opens for travellers.

Chase Farm glamping, Southwater, has now opened for guests, who are able to stay in an Airstream caravan, similar to the one Tom Hanks used when filming Hollywood hits such as Forest Gump and Apollo 13.

The farm also comprises a “Shepard’s lookout” hut, and an eighteenth century cottage. The Argus: The American Airstream caravan at Chase Farm, similar to ones used in Hollywood film-makingThe American Airstream caravan at Chase Farm, similar to ones used in Hollywood film-making

The Edwards’ family has owned Chase Farm since 1955, and continues to work the land as they invite families and couples to join them in one of the three eclectic residencies, and take in the surroundings.

Louise Edwards, of Chase Farm glamping, said: “Wildlife is literally outside the door, from roe deer, pheasants and foxes, to buzzards, tawny and barn owls.

“Until about 25 years ago, the farm had a dairy herd of Channel Island cows, but these days we just grow crops and hay, and sheep graze during winter.”

Each of the unique residencies come equipped with a pair of binoculars for spotting wildlife across the West Sussex countryside.

It comes as Brighton and Hove continues to welcome back tourists, to reach it’s pre-pandemic level of day tourists of 9.5 million visitors per year.
