A FORMER stunt man was forced to launch a new career after an accident left him with a serious injury.

Rik King, 43, became a chiropractor after a severe neck injury left him unable to do stunt work anymore.

When he was in his twenties Rik was working a professional fire dancer and stage fighting instructor, teaching actors how to perform their own stunts.

But in 2000, he flipped over a pole which snapped, causing him to fall on his head and badly damage his neck.

Rik continued to suffer from chronic neck pain for ten years after the accident.

Rik said: “I was taking strong pain killers just to get out of bed.

"For the first time in my life, I considered a chiropractor, and paid a visit to one in Sacramento where I lived at the time.

"And there, my life purpose and mission was born. The chiropractic care didn’t just get me back on my feet.

"It also made me feel rejuvenated and free again, and somehow more at peace.

"Experiencing this unforeseen ripple effect across my entire life and mindset fuelled me into studying to become a chiropractor myself.”

Fast-forward 14 years and Rik has worked with hundreds of patients.

He has now opened his own practice called Vibe Chiropractic in Brighton Marina.

Rik said: “I chose Brighton Marina to set up my practice because I have always had a love of the sea and the sort of energy that comes with it.

"I was working in Southampton but the seafront there doesn’t quite have the same appeal.

"I love the vibe of Brighton and wanted to make this the home for my first clinic.

"I have built Vibe Chiropractic to create somewhere people can feel included, heard and part of a tribe when it comes to healthcare.”

Kirsty Pollard, centre manager for Brighton Marina said: “We are pleased to start 2022 with our new addition, Vibe Chiropractic in The Village.

"This is the first time we have had a therapeutic clinic at the Marina, and we are excited at how it will be received.”
