RECOVERY efforts and repairs following Storm Eunice could be hampered by further strong winds expected on Saturday.

The Met Office have issued a yellow weather warning for wind from 6am on Saturday morning to 6pm, covering the entire south coast and almost all of Sussex.

The warning says that "further strong winds are expected in some southern areas of the UK, which could hamper recovery efforts from Storm Eunice".

Gusts of up to 60mph are expected in coastal areas.

Infrastructure recovery works resulting from the storm may also be affected, with the possibility that any power cuts resulting from the storm may be prolonged.

There is also a small chance that some roads and bridges could close, and of longer journey times or cancellations as road, rail and air services could be affected.

The news comes as Storm Eunice begins to form the North Atlantic, with it set to undergo a "rapid intensification" in the next 24 hours as it heads towards the UK and the Sussex coast.

Gusts of up to 90mph are expected tomorrow as the storm makes its way across the country, with an amber weather warning issued by the Met Office.

Train operators have warned customers not to travel tomorrow amid fears that the storm could cause railway lines to become obstructed.

The Met Office have warned that Storm Eunice could result in flying debris that could pose a "danger to life", and that there is a good chance that power cuts could occur.

The coastguard have also urged people to stay away from exposed coastal areas tomorrow and said: "strong winds and spring tides will make the coast a particularly dangerous place to be".
