DESIGNERS are working on a "kitsch seaside" show home at a new £120 million development
Award-winning interior designers Honky will take inspiration from several Brighton artists when dressing the property at the Edward Street Quarter, Brighton.
London’s Honky, known for their sustainable interiors, will use works by Faye Bridgewater, Polly Arnett, and many others while styling the first of 168 homes for sale at the development.
Paul Dawson, design director, said: “We felt it was important to include as many locally sourced accessories and artists as possible.
"Brighton is packed with incredibly creative and inspiring people, so our aim was to celebrate that.
“To us, interior design is about storytelling in 3D. With Edward Street Quarter we wanted to capture the spirit of the seaside location and really have fun with it.
“Using soft lines and our chosen palette, we hope to create a calm and elegant space without losing the lively Brighton vibe.”
Designers will also take influence from Madeira Drive, as they include pops of turquoise in the colour palette from the terrace’s ironwork, as well as pastels from the myriad colours of Hanover’s houses.
The entrance hall of the property will be painted “raspberry pink” in a nod to Brighton and Hove’s beach huts, while the open-plan seating area will be astrological-themed, in keeping with Cosmo Sarson’s Neptune mural set to appear on an exterior wall of the development – an homage to the city’s fishing heritage.
The Edwards Street Quarter will see homes sold from £300,000 for the smallest one-bedroom space, up to £760,000 for the largest three-bedroom property.
It will also boast a 125,000 square foot flexible workspace, the largest development of its kind in Brighton since 1993.
Steve Eccles, director at developer Socius, said: “This phase of the development process is incredibly exciting. With many of the apartments under offer, our potential buyers can now get a true feel for the space available, the stunning roof terrace and the community that they will be a part of.”
The site will also offer leisure, retail and hospitality facilities.
