WINDS from Storm Eunice have sent a catamaran flying through the air.

Pictures captured by pedestrians shows how the boat crashed into metal fence at Brighton Sailing Club.

The fence seems to have stopped the large water craft from crossing onto the beach.

The city's seafront can be "extremely dangerous" in stormy weather with violent waves coming from different directions, coupled with freezing temperatures and high spring tides.

The highest alert – meaning a high impact is very likely – was issued at the time over Sussex due to fears of Storm Eunice “causing significant disruption and dangerous conditions due to extremely strong winds” up to 90mph, the Met Office said.

An amber alert remains in place for the area.
