A MAN must pay more than £1,000 and has been given a five-year restraining order after he committed assault.

David Richard Barker assaulted a man by beating him in Eastbourne on August 7, 2020, contrary to section 39 of the Criminal Justice Act 1988.

Barker, from London Road in Halstead, Essex, pleaded not guilty on April 21, 2021, but was found guilty at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on February 1 this year.

The 63-year-old has been given a five year restraining order preventing him from contacting the man, which lasts until February 1, 2027.

He was also fined £500, had to pay compensation of £200 and pay £50 to victim services, as well as £620 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

Barker must pay £1,370 in total by March 2 this year.
