BRIGHTON and Hove has been named as one of the greenest areas in England and Wales.

The city came eighth overall in a study to find the greenest place to work, carried out by real estate platform, Property Inspect.

The report, which excludes London, also found Brighton and Hove to have the second highest number of charging points for electronic vehicles.

Warrick Swift, commercial director of Property Inspect, said: “We hope people living and working in Brighton & Hove will take pride in how their working lives are contributing to positive changes on the environment, but we must all recognise there’s still a long way to go.

“Investors, employees and customers are considering the environmental impacts of the businesses they interact with, so it’s important for business owners, new and old, to think holistically about how they operate and what they can do to improve.”

The study considered four aspects from each area, including its renewable energy production, the number of electronic vehicle charging points available, and the percentage of non-domestic appliances with an Electronic Performance Certificate (EPC) above a C grade.

It comes as a study by intranet company Unily, found 83 per cent of workers in feel their employers should be doing more to combat climate change, while 72 per cent were concerned about their employers’ environmental ethics.
