A BUSINESS owner has revealed the success of her station-based wine shop since it opened at the end of last year.

Whilst other businesses have struggled during the pandemic, Seven Cellars – based in Dyke Road, Brighton – continued to succeed.

Owner, Louise Oliver, 48, opened her second site for the upmarket off-licence in Brighton train station last year.

She said: “I’m always scouting for my next location and it has to be special. I’d had my eye on Brighton station for a while as it’s just around the corner from my original shop.

“I sent a speculative enquiry to Southern Rail in March 2021 and I was surprised to see that they got back to me straight away.

“Opening new premises during a pandemic was brave – but I couldn’t turn the opportunity down.”

Louise officially opened the station site in October 2021.

She added: “Seven Cellars specialises in amazing wines from all over the world, including vegan, organic and biodynamic.

“We also have a great menu of craft beer, which we rotate every week. We’ve built up a reputation as the best bottle shop in Brighton!

“Now that the hustle and bustle of the station is starting to come back, it’s a great place to be.

“The work from home guidance was difficult but luckily, we set up our click and collect offering before Covid was a thing.

“We’ll definitely keep the service running as it’s so convenient for our customers – especially now we’re in the station.

"Simply place an order when you’re on the train home and we’ll have it ready for you to collect on your way through.”

Rob Bastow, GTR Commercial, said: “It’s brilliant to have Seven Cellars as part of the family.

“We were looking for something a little different and seeing how loved and well-known Seven Cellars is in Brighton, I’m really pleased that Louise chose to expand her business at the station.

“We get a real mix of locals, day-trippers and commuters, so a boutique bottle shop offering all the latest in beer, wines and spirits is perfect for catering to a diverse mix of shoppers.

“We wish Louise years of success.”
